VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE
Surprising Encounters in Theology and the Arts
September 4-7, 2025
Duke University
How can the arts help us open up the very heart of the Christian faith, celebrated at the Council of Nicaea in 325, that Jesus Christ is “one in being” with God? Featuring world-class academics, artists, musicians, and clergy from around the globe and a robust range of programming, DITA2025 is a four-day symposium at Duke University celebrating Nicaea and the myriad surprises the Creed holds in store for artists, academics, clergy, and parishioners today. Get your spot now!
A Symposium on Theology and the Arts
Featuring an extended set by singer-songwriter Sandra McCracken, followed by a discussion between former archbishop Rowan Williams and contemporary novelist Chigozie Obioma, this Friday night keynote will open up some of the ways different art forms can serve to foster “life in all its fullness.” Come learn more about what it might mean to become more fully alive as we engage the arts afresh!

“This is just one of the many ways we aim to foster conversations about art and faith beyond our four short days together. Many thanks to Image for the opportunity to partner and to Molly McCully Brown for joining us as a speaker.”
Symposium programming includes: morning worship, seminar encounters, plenary addresses, applied workshops with practicing artists, interactive keynotes featuring music by Sandra McCracken, and tickets to a full-length performance by the world-class New Caritas Orchestra.
